"Thalassotherapy" as the sea cure (thalassa=mare). Thalassotherapy is a revitalising treatment using different properties from the sea, like fresh sea water, seaweed, and marine trace elements combined with heat, seawater baths, mud packs and massages. The pores of the skin, in contact with seawater, expand and allow the passage of precious oligoelements that are slowly freed in the blood system-correcting any imbalances. Various types of seaweed, with their well known antibiotic, bacterial static and antiviral power do the rest.

Some of the illnesses which Thelassotherapy is believed to help are:

  • circulatory diseases (hypertension, arteriosclerosis, etc.)
  • respiratory diseases (asthma, bronchitis, etc.)
  • post traumatic disorders (muscle atrophy, etc.)
  • skin problems (scabies, atopic dermatitis, etc.)
  • chronic inflammation (rheumatic arthritis, etc.)

Furthermore ongoing research has found other areas where Thalassotherapy has appeared helpful:

  • to increase the activity and effectiveness of the immune system
  • to recover a low responsiveness of hypothalamic-adrenal endocrine system
  • to improve sleep quality; and to fight localized inflammation and itching sensations

Thalassotherapy enables the body to replenish essential revitalizing natural elements and mineral salts. As well as improve your blood circulation and offers total relaxation for your body, mind and soul.

The coast is important for Thalassotherapy because sea air is considerably cleaner than air in the city. Aside from that there is the salt contained in sea air. The complex composition of the air helps people with neurodermatitis and chronic respiratory problems.

But Thalasso is not entirely without limitations. The warm mud packs and water therapies can cause difficulties for pregnant women and people with high blood pressure. Also, people who cannot tolerate iodine, who have open wounds or who suffer from deep depression should speak to their doctor before undergoing Thalasso.

Thalassotherapy is offered by many of the spas in the Slovenia, FranceIsrael, Jordan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Turkey, Czech Republic,  Monaco.
